Signage Is the Key
Confucius once said “I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I experience and I understand” how true are those words of this most famous philosopher.
The visual aspect of signage has been around since human beings first began expressing themselves by drawing in caves, and this played a huge part in communication.
So much has been written about advertising and marketing, but it all boils down to the same thing, marketing is all about promoting a product to the right audience, in the right way.
The key to successful marketing has to be the right sort of information on businesses and products, and one of the greatest and popular ways to do this is through the use of exhibition stands.
What a platform, an exhibition, trade fair, with thousands of potential customers, signage when used with visual grabbing graphics has to be one of the best marketing tools out there.
More and more companies are looking to exhibitions as a direct response medium, and the primary purpose of this participation is down to budgets, this way of advertising and marketing is proving to be the most efficient and cost effective way of customer contact.
A company that wants to have a presence at events such as exhibitions, seminars, workshops or any outdoor activity, has to look at what is right for them, something that will be transportable, easy to erect with high impact visuals, this of course will include pop-up displays, also folding panel kits.
A total solution for all signage and accessories will need to be a special provider, that gives a special service, and offers, very competitive prices.
With that in mind a company such as Exhibit One, a company steeped in providing a first class quality service, has stated that the key point in them helping a company stay ahead in these changing times is their continual investment in the most up-to-date technology.
Exhibition and display requirements, whatever the need to present and market a company and its products, Exhibit One can give a ‘second to none’ service, with eye-catching creations, this company will take the time to understand your market, the business, and your goals, and with their help can drive your business forward with design and creativity, signage that is vivid, striking, detailed and explicit, in everything from banner stands, pop up stands, modular.
Confucius said “I see and I remember”

Why Would Anyone Use Online Fax?
As with any new technology, there are many misconceptions, online fax is no different. Some people just can’t get their heads around the whole notion of paperless faxing, one which doesn’t need a conventional fax machine. Mainly because old ideas and ways of doing things, especially in the workplace, don’t get changed overnight.
Besides, what’s the big deal about online fax and why should I use it?
To answer those questions, one only has to look at the novel features and benefits of email or web faxing to discover the answers. First and foremost, this new way of faxing is directly connected to your computer and in these days almost every workplace has at least one. Most current businesses will have countless computers, usually all working in a LAN (local area network) so everyone can quickly communicate with one another. Online fax ties all your messages into this network, as well as the whole Internet.
All this means that every employee has the ability to send and receive a fax, as long as they have a computer and a web connection. When you throw in the fact that any mobile device can be used as your fax machine, you have a great communication tool which is available anywhere, anytime. This makes online fax a true liberating force in the workplace, one that can really give your company a competitive edge, especially if faxing plays an important role in the running of your business.
Another important feature has to do with “ease of use” or how “simple” it is to send and receive a fax via the web and your computer. It’s as easy as sending an email. Your messages are usually sent as email attachments, although you can still send your messages to a traditional fax machine. However, these days, more and more business faxing is done through the web and your email system. Pure convenience is the major selling point.
This way your messages can be much more secure since they can be encrypted. Plus, you can send it directly to the person it is intended for and not to a general fax machine in the office, where anyone can view it. This offers greater privacy and for sensitive faxes it is the only way to proceed. This feature alone has made this new way of faxing extremely popular.
You can also send/receive numerous faxes simultaneously, so there are no more missed faxes because of busy signals or paper jams. You can also get confirmation that your fax has been received. All your messages can be stored on your computer or in your online fax account, where they can be easily sorted and filed for ready access. No more scrambling through piles of papers to find that important fax you received last week, it can be found with a few clicks of the mouse.
Then you have to consider that online fax is very cost-effective. Start-up costs are next to nil and you don’t have the monthly expenses of all those inks, toners and papers. Plus, you don’t need to install a dedicated fax phone line since everything is handled through your web connection. For a growing company, online fax is totally scalable, you can add fax lines without having to install any extra hardware.
For all these reasons, people have started using online fax and there’s no end in sight. The features and benefits are too overwhelming to be ignored by most companies and individuals. When you consider most of these online fax providers throw in a Free 30 Day Trial to get you started, most people can’t resist the temptation and you have a technology that knows no bounds or limits. Can you afford not to use it?

Authority & Authenticity- Do You Extract or Elicit?
Zig Ziglar is a master. His stories, his humor and his excitement in his voice carry over you as he weaves his life lessons.
I watched him talk the other day. His short term memory is impaired so his daughter has to come up with him to keep him focused and on task. His stories were ones of how you can make change happen and be at the top of his game. His hands shook a little but the love he spoke with made us in the audience give him great latitude and great authority. He was authentic.
Then I saw Jim. He came out and in the first two sentences told the audience “we were stupid.” He ranted and raved and threw insults about as though they were candy at a parade. He proceeded to tell us we should treat all people as equals regardless of their race, religion or financial status. Then he proceeded to tells us that an “overweight Mexican Woman” in the back wasn’t being treated with respect by all the speakers. Hmm, do you see a duality here? His entire speech was riddled with lessons of what we should do and then in his stories you heard strong judgment of others in how he described them or imitated them. He was trying to extract authority. What he got was nervous laughter from people.
Both speakers had some solid messages. However one was wrapped so tightly in judgment that it was hard to peel that back to land on the message. It was also hard to take the message seriously because the “walk” didn’t follow the talk.
Zig Ziglar, on the other hand, raised all around him up and in return they raised him up and honored him.
So how does your team see you? Do they see you like Jim- a mixture of duality that is hard to digest? Or do they see you as Zig- someone that may falter but that you want to follow as you know they will look for the good in you?
May you go forth today and watch for your inaccuracies. Correct any words and actions that don’t match. Ask forgiveness if you realize you have had some duality going on.

Select The Right Office Furniture For Computer Users
Not something that people wanting office furniture thought about years ago, today it has become increasingly important to make sure that people working at computer stations are comfortable. This has led to furniture being designed ergonomically and this has many advantages, particularly in terms of the health of the person using the station.
People work on computers, hardly leaving their station, for long stretches at a time serious physical problems can come about as a result of this. Chronic fatigue is also often experienced by people working in the office or from home.
Research has found that people who work for long periods of time a their computer are prone to strange physical ailments and physical therapists have real concerns about these. Choosing the correct office furniture to minimize risk is a good way of avoiding this work hazard.
The angle of the hands on the keyboard, the way the eyes are focused on the screen of the computer and the way the person is seated in a chair; all matter and have to be considered in the selection of furniture for computer stations, be they home or office. While style and budget matter, so too do ergonomic designs. In the long term, the old adage applied ‘you get what you pay for’. So the most beneficial long term solution is key to making your office furniture decisions.
Children and students spend hours online, studying and chatting as well as playing games. Home and office professionals have to get the best support money can buy when working in front of a computer for long hours.
Back support from a chair is very important, without the correct support for the back the body tires easily and can actually cause long term damage. The weight must be evenly spread over the chair and both height settings and lumbar support are essential. Lumbar support steadies the spine and supports the base of the back which keeps it well aligned. This avoids slumping or slouching; alleviating strain on the back and preventing injury.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is an ailment which plagues many people who spend long hours working on computers. The wrist joint is injured as a result of the carpal ligaments taking strain from working in an inappropriate way. This causes inflammation and even the nerves are damaged. The proper padded support for the wrist while typing can prevent this injury from occurring. Again this has to be considered when you purchase office furniture.
The way the computer is positioned for the eyes is also important to prevent strain from taking place. This does not only involve eye strain, but the neck and back are also affected. Placing the screen and keyboard at precisely the correct level will prevent these types of strains from taking place and is another important consideration.
The correct furniture designed for comfort and anatomical support is readily available. Sales people who deal with this furniture all the time will be able to assist you in making the right choices. Long term health is as important, if not more so than quality and durability when choosing office furniture.

The Facts About Internet Fax Services
What is Internet fax? It’s the twenty-first century version of traditional facsimile technology, which uses a scanner to convert a paper document to digital format, and sends it to a fax machine in another location which translates the digital information and prints another physical copy. Whether via a broadband or dial-up connection, you can send and receive internet faxes whether or not the party to whom you’re sending them uses internet fax or not. Even the faxes people with traditional fax machines send to you can be received as virtual faxes. And, likewise, you can send an internet fax to people with traditional fax machines who can still receive it like they would any other fax. When people with regular fax machines call your internet fax number, they will hear a pre-recorded message, either a default message provided by your internet fax service or your own personal message, letting them know that they’ve reached your virtual fax and that they can proceed to send over their fax as normal.
Internet fax services typically charge you a flat rate for unlimited incoming faxes from anywhere and outgoing faxes to the United States, Canada, and Mexico. International virtual fax rates are typically charged if sending to countries other than those, but they’re very inexpensive. Many virtual fax companies will even offer to give you an incoming internet fax number for free, so that you can try out their service risk-free before you decide to sign up fully. If your faxing requirements are minimal, you can as well sign up for a type of service that will entail very small monthly or yearly fees.
By choosing internet faxing as your primary transmission method, one of the main benefits to you will be the savings, both in time and resources. Internet faxing will save you money over time since you will no longer require fax paper rolls, repair and maintenance of the fax machine itself, an additional phone line or toner cartridges (those certainly add up over time). You will no longer need to type out cover pages since you can utilize a standard, customizable cover page template. Additionally, you no longer have to print out each document you wish to send as they can all be added as attachments and sent immediately.
Now lets look at what an Internet Fax Service can provide for you and what you should look for when choosing a service provider.
Price Value
How much service will you receive for the cost? Can you get unlimited incoming and outgoing faxes for a low rate? Or will you get up to 100 incoming and 50 outgoing faxes a month for an exorbitant fee? You should at least be able to get a free trial to send faxes online with established and reliable fax software, (maybe even a free incoming fax number indefinitely), and no set-up fee or other hidden fees on service. Due diligence is your main ally at this point. Try as many trial offers as necessary until you find a good fit.
Reliability
Nothing is more aggravating or disappointing than when you send a fax through traditional methods and it doesn’t go through. You are not likely to be any less irritated if you send faxes online and they don’t go through either. Some internet fax services offer delivery guarantees on their services – read the fine print and choose what best suits your requirements.
Customer Support
It’s the same with internet fax services as it is with every other service-providing business – customer service is paramount. A company is only as good as the customer service it provides. How readily available are trained, knowledgeable, and friendly support staff to help you twenty four hours a day and three hundred and sixty five days per year? And through what selection of methods – local or toll-free phone, email, web form, live web chat? And lastly, what kind of self-support suite does the service offer? Does its user guides, tutorials, knowledgebase, troubleshooters, etc. cover all you need to know to receive and send faxes online using its service? Choose a provider based on most, if not all of these attributes.
Ease of Use
Most of us rely on the software interfaces to guide us through the otherwise intimidating process of communicating our needs to it in a way that produces desired results, in this case: to receive and send faxes online. The best internet fax software will lead you step-by-step through the process to receive and send faxes online.
Internet fax service has indeed addressed not only the cost but also logistic and convenience problems of traditional faxing. And not only that, it has allowed business’ and individuals to multi-task without sacrificing efficiency and output. Explore your options, take some trial offers and get acquainted with internet faxing and move your business and communication into the 21st century.

It’s OK to use Big Words – where appropriate
The other day I was reviewing a formal business document with a group of colleagues when someone objected to use of the word ‘analagous’, not because it was used incorrectly, but because she didn’t understand it and therefore didn’t think it should be allowed to remain in the document. What’s worse is that the rest of this group of professionals – all fairly senior and well-respected in the organisation – agreed with her!
I would argue however that use of the word was entirely appropriate: it concisely conveyed the intended meaning and was suitable for the context (a formal document) and intended audience (educated business professionals). Perhaps if the intended audience was school children the language would have to be adapted accordingly. I say ‘perhaps’ because it seems to me that our modern education system is seriously lacking in teaching the fundamentals of reading and writing. Every document that passes my desk these days is rife with basic spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes which should have been addressed in primary school. Some of these have been produced by highly paid external consultancies, and unfortunately my immediate impression on reading one is: if they can’t even spell (or use a spell checker) properly, how can I trust that they know what they’re talking about?
I’m not saying that we should deliberately use big words to obfuscate meaning, but this dumbing down is, in my opinion, a sign of how far the UK has fallen in the world pecking order. I can not imagine a similar (one might even say analagous) group of Chinese or Indians responding in the same way as my colleagues; rather they would be reaching for the dictionary and making a mental note to try harder in future.
And this is why in the not too far distant future we’ll all be having to learn Chinese: because they, with their phenomenal work ethic will have so far outstripped the traditionally industrialised countries in education and innovation that having to deal with big words in English will be the least of our children’s worries.

To Produce Your Best, Alleviate Stress
The New Year is here, and 2010 already feels like it is in full swing. January is the month of resolutions and commitments. Individual resolutions range from losing weight to quitting smoking, but what do businesses resolve? Businesses are not immune to the need to create resolutions that will improve their companies and employees.
A myriad of resolutions lie waiting for businesses to implement, yet one seems to make more sense than the rest, stress. Work-related stress is teeming within the majority of employees today, yet those suffering from it generally will not complain until their mental or physical health begins to suffer.
Stress is linked to the five leading causes of death – heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide. Despite the harsh reality of the effects of stress, most people dismiss work-related stress as a necessary evil, but it doesn’t have to be. Businesses have the opportunity to educate, assess and resolve stress-related issues in order to create a more productive environment.
A workplace infected with stress can lead to an increase in the likelihood or severity of physical and psychological illnesses, increased absenteeism, an increase in the frequency of accidents, reduced morale, increased staff turnover, and reduced productivity.
According to the American Psychological Association, 62 percent of Americans say work has a significant impact on their stress levels. That means over half of the working population is prone to develop physical and psychological conditions because of their experiences in the workplace. These illnesses may seem like daily annoyances, when in reality they could be signaling diminishing health of an individual.
Physical illnesses and injuries associated with stress include heart disease, musculoskeletal disorders, and gastrointestinal disturbances. The psychological effects from stress include sleep problems, anxiety, depression and other mental illnesses.
Think of the worker who is so stressed that they are exhausted at work because they can’t fall asleep. Or the worker who begins having chest pains or heart burn each time a new assignment is piled onto their desk.
These are not merely signs of minor anxiety; these are symptoms of work-related stress overload that can seriously harm employees if they are not resolved. Businesses have the opportunity to relieve stress, and it is in their best interest to do so.
Increased absenteeism is yet another harmful side effect of work-related stress. How people cope with stress varies, but everyone has limitations to what they are willing to withstand. Reaching those limitations can result in simply skipping or taking time off from work to avoid the stress altogether.
Consider the employee who calls in sick, yet sounds perfectly healthy on the phone. This may be beneficial for the individual’s health, but it is not in the best interest of business.
Companies need their employees present in order to be productive. Eliminating work-related stress will ensure that employees are present at their jobs, and do not feel the need to escape from work to regain health.
When employees are stressed, accidents happen. The physiological consequences of stress mentioned previously contribute to the increase in frequency of accidents. If a worker is too stressed to sleep at night, they will be tired and sloppy on the job. Lack of energy can result in details being overlooked, and in some situations this can put the entire workforce in danger.
If a crane operator is too stressed and exhausted from working long hours, it is not in anyone’s best interest to have him operating heavy machinery. Regardless of the type or size of accident, they are unacceptable in the work place. Businesses should construct a plan or policy to ensure that their employees are healthy and safe while on the job or while in a work-related setting.
Work-related stress weakens morale. Workers have already struggled to stay afloat amid the recession, and those who made it suffered from lowered morale when friends and colleagues were left unemployed or when production was projected to increase despite smaller staffing.
When stress is added to an already shrinking morale, it only gets worse. Lowered morale will increase employee turnover and reduce productivity. Businesses should keep in mind that morale is salvageable when companies make an effort to consider their employees.
In summation, work-related stress causes a number of health and professional problems, but most importantly these all factor into one common result: loss of productivity.
A drop in productivity is not beneficial for businesses or for employees, but it can be avoided. Businesses should make the resolution to educate themselves on what causes their workers the most stress, and then find ways to address that problem. Remedies can range from implementing additional break time throughout the day to restructuring teams to evenly distribute the workload.
This year is full of promise. A happy employee will produce twice as much as a stressed employee. Businesses should take the opportunity to maximize their potential for success by alleviating work-related stress from their employees.
Modern business should not concern itself primarily with how much is produced, but how production can improve. Reducing work-related stress will improve the health and wellness of employees as well as the way business is conducted.

The Most Important Aspects of Any Business
What makes a good business? If the answer to this question was obvious we would all now be millionaires. Yet, there are a few criteria that are more important than all the others in establishing how successful a company might be. Paying attention to these will give you a much better chance of swimming rather than sinking.
First ensure you have a product that people need or want, and either offer better prices or a unique selling point compared to the others already in that market. Next, having good market presence is important. This involves many aspects from thorough and unique marketing strategies to simply having a clear and concise website that shows up in internet searches.
However, once these are established, by far the most important factor for success is clear communication and good customer service. Ensuring you go out of your way to help a customer will make the difference between a repeat sale and a customer telling their friends not to bother with you. Make sure customers know exactly what they are getting and that you are easy to reach and polite and concise when they do reach you.
For smaller companies this can be an issue. With fewer, or even just single members of staff, having someone on hand to answer the phone can either be time consuming and impractical, costly or simply totally impossible. The best answer in these situations is to use a telephone answering service.
A telephone answering service is essentially your own personal receptionist who only works when they are needed, thus saving you huge amounts of money and ensuring that customers can get hold of you any time of the day or night. However, picking the right answering service is very important. Whilst taking information and relaying it to you is very important, a good answering service will be willing to give out information that customers are likely to need too, meaning the whole customer service side can often be done thoroughly with very little need to take up your own time.

Audio Conferencing – Web 2.0 Pizzazz Vs. Same-Old-Same-Old
What do you need to know about Web 2.0 audio conferencing? How is it different than your crusty old dial-in number a PIN you’ve been carrying around in your wallet or purse?
Traditional services lack innovation Audio conferencing has seen little innovation since its emergence in the 1980′s. It started as a part of an AT&T operator call center and you paid $1 per minute per participant. It had basic features and rules rigid. After your allotted time you were cut off. You were charged extra for everything like operator fees, late fees, no-show fees and cancellation fees. Put bluntly, traditional services were as mean as a drill sergeant. After AT&T divestiture in the mid-1980′s “reservation-less” technology emerged to give the emergent Baby Bells basic services. These technologies are still with us. The innovation with reservation-less was the ability to use the same PIN for multiple calls without having to schedule each call through an operator.
Blends the best of the phone & data worlds “Web 2.0 audio conferencing” is an emerging industry that describes a new breed of technology that’s breathing new life into a stodgy yet much needed business service. Traditional services, or same-old-same-old conferencing, connected phone wires together. The new services blend traditional phone technologies with the new breed of web-based technologies, like the iPhone® and Blackberry® to offer new features and functions that make the user experience more effective… and maybe even more fun, too. Ease-of-use, convenience, more features and higher quality at lower costs are its calling card.
Web 2.0 feature power is finally here This new audio conferencing technology blends the best of the phone and web worlds. For example, say you need to get your work team together right now to handle an emergency. Now you can simply tap your group list and voile! You are all on the phone. No more slogging through the process of sending everyone an email, waiting for confirmations, starting the call, waiting for stragglers. Those cumbersome barriers to greater efficiency are removed. Such capabilities were impossible with same-old-same old audio conferencing, but today they’re simple to accomplish and generate powerful results.
Special Note: Web 2.0 audio conferencing and “web conferencing” are not the same. Web conferencing enables the broadcast of a computer screen view, like a PowerPoint slide to participants. Audio conferencing manages the phone connections. Sometimes the two technologies are used together. More often than not however, audio conferencing is used since it doesn’t require everyone to be in front of a computer each time.
