No matter how advanced free conference calling services have come to be over the years, it all still boils down to how easy it is to use in the end. This is one of the major factors as to how regularly a service will be used. Software that proves to be too difficult will only frustrate its user instead of providing the convenience that it’s meant to. This is why it is always important for you to ensure user-friendliness before signing up for any service.

If we compare two different conference calling services, which will be more effective, the one that can have up to one million users in one phone conversation but has to be scheduled a month in advance, or the one that can be done on the spot simply by providing participants with a dial-in number and access code? Would you opt to enlist the free service that delays your calls and aggravates its participants with obnoxious advertisements, or one that gets straight to the point?

While it may be tempting to seek out the most advanced conference calling services on the market, if you can’t figure out how to use it, then it is practically useless.

This is the importance of employing the services of a free conference calling provider that has designed its services to be simple and easy to use. Together with clear, lag-free conversations, and – of course – the service being free, you can be more confident that the service will make your company run even better in terms of communication.

Resource Box:

Based in Long Beach, CA, Free Conferencing Corporation provides its clients with one of the most convenient communications strategies to date. Its conference calling services, together with rest of its services, are simple and easy to use. For more details on other available services such as message blasts and international conferencing, call 877-482-5838 or visit FreeConferenceCall.com.

Business SMS – the sending and receiving of SMS via a PC as part of day to day business communications – is a rapidly growing channel. Typically users take advantage of Web SMS or Email to SMS tools, or integrate their own systems with a Business SMS service using an SMS API.

The Mobile Data Association recently published an excellent report highlighting its use by SMEs in particular. As an indicator of the growth of this sector, Esendex’s own traffic is growing by almost 100% pa and other SMS providers report similar growth.

However, there is also a view that SMS will be overtaken by communication channels such as Mobile Email, Instant Messaging or social media tools such as Twitter. There are certainly some staggering statistics around Twitter – Hitwise reported this month that their traffic was 500% up on the same period last year – despite their outages.

But one needs to be careful to strip the “US effect” within these statistics and the underlying assumptions. With a “Receiver pays” model, texting just didn’t take off in the States and alternative channels have been relatively more successful here than elsewhere in the world. This and the desire to spot the next “big thing” has contributed to a US-dominated investor sentiment which has trickled down to a general market view.

Even so, this misses the point that SMS is already a global phenomenon: it is the most widely used data application in the world with 2.4 billion active users. That doesn’t mean that SMS, and Business SMS in particular, will necessarily replace other communication channels – it should be viewed as part of the mix.

We provide the tools to send and receive SMS via the Web, Email, PC or directly from applications and websites with our SMS API.

If I told you that you need to read this article, would you believe me? Would you keep reading?

Probably not–especially if you receive roughly the same volume of electronic correspondence and unsolicited e-mail messages that I do. Every day, through multiple channels, countless people and causes compete for your limited attention and free time. So while I can tell you that you should keep reading, you are likely to resist that message. If I want to succeed in my goal, I need to persuade you to keep reading. But how?

The first step in persuading is to recognize the task for what it is: Selling. Any time you are working to persuade others to accept your point of view or to back your argument, you are a salesperson. Many professionals instinctively shy away from that word, seeing sales as some kind of slippery trick that they should rise above.

Nothing could be further from the truth. When you seek to persuade others, you are asking them to buy in to your view. Once you understand that basic proposition, your second step is to show them the value of your offering.

You can do that in a couple of ways:

1. Establish your expertise. Why should people listen to what you have to say? How can they be sure that you know what you are talking about?

On the bottom of this page, notice that I put my name and referred to my credentials: I am an editor, a professional writer, and I am affiliated with a resource, Communication Briefings, that you likely know and trust.

With the byline, I established a level of credibility that may have been enough to keep you reading. If you don’t think that you have the personal credibility to persuade others, you can “borrow” some: Quote a famous figure, refer to an industry leader or reveal a fact that shows that you are worth listening to.

2. Draw them in. Whether you are writing or speaking to a reluctant or resistant audience, one way to build rapport is to acknowledge their skepticism or the source of their resistance. If this article had begun with a self-important “read me” message, you might not have read this far.

However, when a writer or speaker starts by referring to your skepticism, you might be intrigued. You might think “Maybe that person really does know how I feel. I wonder if that person knows as much about the other things he or she wants to tell me about.” Asking a question–even a rhetorical question–is another great way to draw your audience in.

Once you have established your credibility and drawn your audience in, you still need to persuade them to “buy” what you are selling. So what’s the next step? Ask. For many people, asking for the sale is the hardest step of all.

Want to learn how to take the next steps in convincing reluctant audiences and persuading them to “buy”?

I recommend a great resource: a Special Report called Persuading Resistant Audiences–The Key Ability to Achieve Success in Business (linked below). Author Larry Tracy is the president of Tracy Leadership Skills, a speakers’ training firm, and a well-known author and sought-after speaker. His speech “Taming Hostile Audiences” was featured in the American Speaker newsletter, and his book, The Shortcut to Persuasive Presentations, has been used as a textbook for the Advanced Speaking Class at Johns Hopkins University.

I think that Persuading Resistant Audiences is a valuable resource that will benefit every workplace communicator: everyone who needs to convince employees to comply with unpalatable instructions, everyone who needs to gain support from a boss, everyone who needs to gain support, close sales and succeed on a work team.

Does that sound like anyone you know–like yourself? You will do better at work once you learn more about persuading resistant audiences. You have stuck with me this far.

Oh, the thrill of it all, flirting with a co-worker or your boss. It can be sexy, fun, and electric. And as the mutual attraction grows and is taken to the dating stage, it can be even more so. However one should always proceed with caution when dating at work as there’s much at stake on both a personal and professional level.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you consider dating a coworker.

Nice and Easy Does It. Remember Bridget Jones and Daniel, the rascal, Cleaver? They went from flirting at the office to jumping into bed in a heartbeat. Not the best way to begin a relationship. Start slow. Spend some time getting to know each other first. Ask them out to lunch on a workday and observe their conduct. Seeing them in different setting will help you decide if it’s right to go to the next step.

Beware the Green-Eyed Monster. No one wants to end up dating someone who’s hiding a possessive nature, but it will most likely happen, especially at the office as your new love can be observed all day, every day. They may flirt with others, thinking it’s perfectly harmless to do so. Jealousy can also come from co-workers thinking you’re suddenly in the boss’ good graces if you’re dating a superior. On the other hand, these are trivial issues in comparison to what happened in Fatal Attraction!

Familiarity Can Breed Contempt. Naturally if you’re seeing someone in the evening and on weekends as well as in the office all day, it could become overkill. And it can put a damper on spontaneity and romance. If you don’t take spend time away from each other, you may end up resenting each other, or taking each other for granted, and that’s the last thing a new (or any) relationship needs. In Two Weeks Notice, George Wade almost lost Lucy Kelson by taking her for granted. Be conscious of how you spend your time together and apart.

As in any relationship, there is no magic formula for what should happen. Each relationship is as different as the people in it, whether they meet in a cafe, at the bus stop, or at work.

Relationships require open, honest communication and mutual respect. If you choose to date someone at work, make sure you go in with your eyes open in order to avoid any of the typical pitfalls. You don’t want to compromise your job or your personal happiness in the process!

There is a whole bunch of people you will meet at the office. There is the workaholic, who does not leave his workstation even to take a break. There is the certified charmer, who is very charismatic and well loved by everyone. There is also the official gossip, who does not let a day pass without sharing a secret or two.

It is the office gossip that you have to watch out the most. You do not know how much destruction the person can caused you in your personal and professional life. She can spread a rumor that may make you lose your promotion or cause internal conflict. She can make your stay at the job a hell.

Here are the best ways to deal with office gossip:

Determine the degree of the gossip. Some rumors are just nonsense there is nothing else to do but to laugh at them. If you think they are completely harmless and do not damage your chances in the workplace, then by all means just let it go. Do not sweat the small stuff.

Confront the person. It is interesting to note that a lot of the gossipmongers are actually scaredy-cats. They do not like to be confronted; but confrontations are good if your intention is to clear the issue, your name, and perhaps save whatever friendship both of you have built.

Tell it to the manager. If the rumors are still going on and they are getting out of hand and talking to the source does not really help, it is time to tell things to the manager. Allow the management to mediate in between both camps.

However, before you do this, ensure you have enough proof to back up your claims. It speeds up the mediation process, and the management can come up with the best decision.

Maintain a strong support system. A lot of these gossipers would do anything to ruin your confidence, but you cannot allow them to do that. When you are feeling down, it is important you have an excellent support system at bay. These include your family and friends. Never be afraid to tell them about your issues at the office. Who knows, their wisdom can also be source of inspiration.

Continuously keep your confidence level up. Subliminal messages can help you a great deal when you are struggling with keeping your high confidence level. The subliminal messages can provide you with an inner strength and a change in belief system that can make you a much better person. The subliminal messages can be the following:

I will not let the office gossip pull me down.
I can ignore the rumors that are against me.
I am not defined by the stories other people tell.

Leave the workplace. Should you find no change in the office gossip and it is causing you a lot of stress, then perhaps it is high time to seek employment elsewhere. It is a lot better to just drop everything than give the rumors an opportunity to destroy your self-belief completely.

Nowadays, as most of the people work in privately owned firms, everyone is very busy in their work, and many times when the reporting manager or the owner of a company asks someone to come for some work, people fail to hear that just because of their work. In such scenarios, a system of effective and high quality speakers can do wonders. There are lots of organizations which are providing loudspeaker systems to suit the specific demands of companies. In Canada, various companies provide steadfast services related to the sale and installation of these systems. Most of the companies offer turnkey solution to their clients, which eventually make it affordable and liaise with them through a single point of contact.

Apart from a loudspeaker system, you can also use paging systems, as it also help in communicating and staying in touch with the employees. Moreover, you can also save considerable money by drastically reducing the number of out going calls, and you can reap the benefits of paging system in the long-term. In BPO, a high quality telephone paging systems are widely used, which helps to reduce expenses made on calls. Overhead paging hardware allows companies’ supervisor to pass on important messages within the organization in the shortest time possible. And, such kind of hardware usually comes with time clock / night ring tones, which can be easily changed by the users.

As every company want to serve its clients with the best in class services, they tend to recommend the most appropriate methods for wiring, the selection of the equipment, and operating various types of facilities to ensure quality solutions for the speakers. Some of the organizations, which are widely popular for their quality products amongst the suppliers, are Page Pac, Wheelock, and Viking etc. These companies manufacture many variants of the selection of speaker selector systems and provide quality CAD drawing services that address the varied needs of firms operating in various sectors may have.

There is a wide application of intercom two way systems, which must be used in apartment buildings and other buildings, in order to address the security concerns. Moreover, speaker systems can also be used in schools and universities to make general announcements and to broadcast emergency notices. And, these systems are also very useful in college campuses, tourist spots, and hospital settings so that if any emergency situation arises, it can be reported to the large number of people.

Communication is the fundamental basis of any relationship, whether personal, private, public, business or international. All relationships are as successful as the communication is effective. Good effective communication builds trust and understanding between parties and generates greater potentials. Learning improv can be a fundamental tool in building these skills.

Being attentive and present when receiving information in the communication process is extremely important. This is a skill which is often overlooked in our fast paced world. It’s a skill most can use some improving with. If there is no genuine “Listening” then there are just 2 people talking at each other… not communicating. Quite often we are not “Listening” we are just waiting for our chance/moment to speak and express our thoughts.

When we are talking we are expressing what we know and think…
When we are listening we are learning what someone else knows and thinks!
In this way, listening is a growing process, because it expands your knowledge base.

Learning some simple improv games and processes improves your ability to ‘listen” completely to what is being conveyed…audibly, visually and emotionally. It trains you in fun and laugh filled moments to understand the whole picture and to be able to communicate back.

Improv exercises increase your skills in a fun way to “Listen” completely to the message. Listening completely means understanding the message of their “what”, “how”, and “why”. Also, it trains your mind to perceive with understanding what they are intending to convey just by their sounds and visual information.

Why the focus on FUN? When you are happy and having fun you are more engaged, open and focused on what you are learning. When we are having fun, we tend to retain what we have learned.

Through the fun and joy of doing improvisational based exercises, you learn to connect with what you want to say, not just with words, making your ability to communicate so much stronger.

Running a business on your own can be a liberating experience. Being your own boss, and not having other staff to worry about can mean you are extremely flexible and plan your working day as best suits you, only having to think of potential deadlines and customers when you make your plans, with everything in between totally up to you.

However, it does throw up a few problems as well. When calling for services, quotes or information customers are often loathed to leave a message and will usually choose to simply call back. If you miss their call a second time there is a good chance that your potential client will go somewhere else, if they have not already done so that is.

And yet, if you are the only member of staff your company has it is impossible to be on hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer calls, never mind the issue of two potential clients calling at the same time. Since you never know when customers might call employing a new member of staff is not feasible as the chances are they will not be needed for a large majority of the time.

Call handling services offer you the chance to have a receptionist only as and when you need them, being able to answer as many or as few calls as is needed, and with you only paying them for the work they do. The only drawback with a call centre service is that on the whole they will take information and pass it onto you, but not be able to give out any information. Customers reaching this call centre service may still be none the wiser than when they started the call and may well still go elsewhere before you have chance to return their call. So, wherever possible, chose call handling services who will act as PAs too, giving out pre-disclosed information as well as taking it.

Google and Apple are a little like BP and water; they don’t mix, at least not well or very willingly. 18 months ago Google submitted Google Voice to Apple’s store for use on iPhones; two months after that Apple decided not to accept it, or any third-party apps that used Google Voice functionality.

According to a Techcrunch article, Apple removed Google Voice because it was too similar to the built-in calling system on the iPhone. In a somewhat defensive response it added that it hadn’t rejected the app outright, but was still considering it for approval. And don’t we all know how long consideration takes.

Things got a little nasty and the government got involved, but now all is roses and iPhone users can happily download the Google Voice app and use it to their hearts’ content, provided they live in the US and have iPhone models with at least iOS 3.1.

iPhone users won’t be denied any of the functionality that other smartphone users enjoy; they’ll benefit from cheap international calls, free text messaging to US numbers, voicemail transcription and Google Voice numbers will be displayed on caller ID systems. According to Google’s blog, Google Voice features also include push notifications, so that you are aware the instant you receive a new voicemail or text message and calls being placed via Direct Access Numbers, so they connect just as quickly as regular phone calls.

MG Siegler (Techcrunch) cautions those familiar with using Google Voice on other devices that using it on the iPhone is a little different. As a result of the aforementioned tiff, Google Voice won’t take over the iPhone’s calling capabilities. To use the application you actually have to open it. Once you do so, however, you can make calls directly from Google Voice, send and receive texts and listen to voicemails.

According to many reviewers, the best thing about the Google Voice app is that it is free, but there is much more to the app than that. Evan Selleck (Slashgear) is a big fan of the fact that the app runs natively on the iPhone, he also likes that the messages between users and their contacts are threaded, which makes it easy to keep up with conversations. There’s also the fact that users can read their history, just in case they need to check up on something. The only real hiccup Selleck found was some redundancy in notifications.

A review of Google Voice on the LA Times blog was less kind. The positive points, according to the LA Times, include simple setup, push notifications for new texts and voicemail and the ability to set up “quick dial” contacts or favourites (with photos). The less positive points include too many glitches (system freezes which require a restart), the tortoise-like pace when it comes to updating the quick dial function, and the erratic nature of the contacts functionality in general (apparently it ended up pairing the wrong face with the wrong name, and despite numerous attempts to create a preferred list order, it kept reverting to the original). There are some issues with keypad functionality, customisation options are limited and you can’t archive or mark messages as read.

Overall the response has been good and many people are just thrilled to bits that they can finally access the app on their iPhones. International iPhone users will have to wait until 2011 before they can rejoice, but there is more good news on the Apple horizon (if you’re a Google lover that is). Google is working on ways to bring Google Voice to the iPad and iPod.

Apple had better watch out; it seems that a total Googlification is imminent.
